Several of my RAY ancestors from the state of MS served in the Confederacy in the war. My 3rd great-grandfather James A. MITCHELL enlisted 7/20/1862 at Van Buren, Arkansas. Served with company G of what was initially the 7th Missouri Infantry, aka "Jackman's Regiment", aka the 16th Missouri Infantry. The 16th Missouri Infantry fought in the following engagements: Battle of Helena, Red River Campaign, Battle of Pleasant Hill and Jenkins' Ferry. He was captured April 9th, 1864 at Pleasant Hill, Louisiana. His brother Newton was captured in same battle, and his brother Thomas killed. His younger brother William Robert Mitchell fought for Union in Civil War - Co. E, 16th MO Cav.

My great great grandfather, Ebenezer Denyer, served in the second regiment of the Texas infantry. I found and downloaded several pages of documentation from Footnote.com.

My 3rd Great Grandfather, Charles Dudley BOYETTserved in Company B, 53rd Alabama Partisan Rangers. Charles married Elizabeth HARVEL. His brother Henry BOYETT served in Co. H, 60th AL Regt., Henry married Alley (Allie) GUY.

I have 0 direct Confederate ancestors. However, there were migrations from PA to NC in the 1750s & 1790s, so I think some Confederate soldiers with the surnames of those individuals (mainly Holder, Rex, Custer) around Raleigh would be related to me. My great-great grandfather SAMUEL BOYETT (b 1842) was a private in Co. I, 12th Louisiana Infantry ("The Farmer Guards). Most of the men in this unit were from Union Parish, LA and surrounding parishes/counties (including Union Co. AR). I have copies of his records), but have been unable to find a date of death or place of burial. Any idea as to how I might find this information?

My ancestor was James Mabey, a British subject who was on the CSS Virginia in the battle with the USS Monitor. After that he seems to have moved around throughout the south fighting with different units. I'm thinking that he was some sort of artillery observer because he had arrived from Buenos Ayres in 1862 after serving in a 'disguised' British artillery unit during the civil war there. He was eventually captured by Union calvary and released quickly. This information is recorded by him in a letter, but I've never been able to locate him as being in any specific Confederate army or navy though he says "I fought with the Navy and the Army too." Suggestions?

I have several Confederate ancestors Andrew B. Walker, buried in Oakwood Cemetery from King William County, Va. is one of them.

Thanks for the invite, husband is from MS,(Alcorn Co., Corinth,) and McNairy Co., Tn, I know some of his decendants served the Confederate Army. I don't have the info with me right now we are out of state.

Hi everybody. Maybe you can help me figure something out. I have a William Tindle who of course had a son William Tindle. One of them enlisted and I can't figure out which one it was. This is what I have for the enlistement:

TINDLE, WILLIAM Pvt - Enl 22 May 1863 at Clarksville, AR. Absent wounded in battle 12 Sep 1863. 7th Cavalry Company B

If anybody has anything else on him I'd be very grateful.
