Seeking parents of Sarah COX, born circa 1781. She married in Jul-Aug 1802 in Williamson Co., TN to William LEMMONS. They lived in the counties of Williamson Co. and Davidson Co. before moving to Bedford Co. From there her husband William Lemmons served during the War of 1812. He was killed at the Battle of New Orleans on 23 Dec 1814. Sarah (Cox) Lemmons apparently lived with her children through the later years although I have not been able to locate her on a census record. She was living by 1860 in Polk Co., Arkansas when she applied as a widow. Her known children were: Nancy McKINLEY, Jane (Fine) STRATTON, James B., Mary BURR and William Alvin / Alvis.

Can anyone identify this Sarah? Any information on her would be appreciated. I've seen a few Coxes in the county during the time Sarah would have lived there but nothing to show a connection. I have checked the available probates. Any help greatly appreciated.

The only thing I have come across in the Cox family book is that a Benjamin Cox (who was a weaver from England) had a sister who married someone with the surname Lemen. It does not give the name of the sister or any dates.
Benjamin's parents were Gabriel Cox and either Sarah or Nancy Polke.
Thanks, Nancy! I have the Cox book, too, but haven't looked at it in a while. I think I also found the same possibility but couldn't find more on them. I will have to dig out my notes to see if there was a Benjamin Cox in the same area or not. I do remember a Daniel Cox though. Again, thanks.
