I understand that many of the emigrants to US and Canada moved in "clusters" meaning they often moved all together or in waves to the same localities.  My Dalys were irish born and went Ottawa, Canada apparently  late 1860s.  My great Grandparents Michael Rogers and Mary Daly were married in St Patric  Catholic Church in Ottawa  on 31 Oct 1872.   I have a small list of baptisms from the same church and  they listed childs names, parents names, and the names of sponsors. I noticed that the sponsors last names often showed up repeatedly within the same families. Might  be worth looking thru the available films and see who you might find.  PS.  My family eventually moved to Minnapolis Minnesota.   There were also many families in Ottawa who had connections to Scranton Pennsylvania and New  York.

Daly Great Great Grandparents:  Bridget Nolan and James Daly, both born about 1800 in Clare or KIng County,Ireland, They married prior to immigrating to Canada but I have no idea of year though I would guess the location was King CO because the only child that I have any info on, Mary, was born in King County in 1852.  I believe there were other children.  Bridget passed away before 1871 in Ottawa,  Ontario, Canada , James  died 27 Sep 1873.  probably  in Canada.    Mary, their daughter  born 1852, ireland, married Michael Joseph Rogers  31 October 1872 in St Patricks Catholic Church, Ottawa, Canada .  She died in Minneapolis, Minnesota May 1921.  I have more info on MIke and Mary forward but the info provided here on James and Bridget is all the info I have on the Dalys.

In the early 1960s we met a Wren or Ren Daly who was stationed in Sacramento, Ca, at an Air Force base.  He was from New York and  mom said he  was related to her, 2nd cousin  ?  he was in a car accident in Sacramento, went through a car windshield, He was released from the hospital to our house. and unless he had plastic surgery probably had a very noticeable scar  nearly the length of his face.  If this sounds familiar to anyone I sure would love to make a connection.. Just put in the accident info because it is more specific than the general 1800 Daly info.  I'd love to be able to locate documents for the family, birth, marriage, death certificates ..anything.  Thank you....St Pat.s Day is just around the corner so Maybe it will be lucky for me!

I'm looking for the Irish roots of Patrick Daly who was married in 1852 to Ellen O'Connell in Warren Co., NY and had two sons: James and William. Family stories say Patrick died on his way to Iowa or shortly after arriving in Iowa in 1856. I believe he had a sister Ellen who married Daniel Lane and they also moved to Osage, Iowa in the mid-1850s and were farmers.

Jennifer... thanks for starting this group. My Daly ancestors were in Oxford County, Ontario. Earliest ancestor in my records is Captain Alexander Daly who died in in 1868. Sue Edminster
