Hi everyone. This year I have assumed the responsibility of Registrar and Genealogist for my chapter in Washington.

The flyer we got about the workshop "invited" us to bring an application that we were working on. Other than the little flyer, we have not received much information regarding the workshop. The workshop is entitled "Volunteer Field Genealogist Workshop". It is Tuesday and Wednesday here in Omaha. I guess some folks are flying in from other places to attend.

I haven't had a chance to do any of the 2-day workshops (although they are on my to-do list), but a friend of mine recently did the 4-day one in DC and said it was fabulous. Can't wait to hear about yours.

Betty Jo, Sounds like you have your hands full. Sorry to hear about your Mother and the death of your sister. What other organizations are you trying to get into? I have two others that I am working on also.

I am attending a DAR genealogy workshop which is being held in my hometown next week. It is the first time they have had such a workshop in Nebraska. Hopefully I will learn something that I can share with the group. Has anyone on the board attended such a workshop? I'm wondering what to expect.

Thank you all for the help and suggestions. It is getting a little confusing as I am trying to gather proof for three different organizations. Fortunately they are all for the same side of my family. But the time I have to work on them is varying every day as I am taking care of my parents. If case I didn't mention it before she is in the early stages of Alzhemiers. This is on her father's side and I am trying hard to get it all together while she can still appreciate the hard work I have put in it. The DAR is a project my sister started in 2006 before she passed away. She didn't get very far with collecting the proof. I would one day like to be able to go to Massachusetts and Connecticut where the earliest ancestors we have listed settled and lived and died.

Well girls, I think we've scared Betty Jo off! Please know that we didn't mean to do that Betty Jo. I think we all probably had different experiences when we completed our applications. I remember rolling my cart into the home of the DAR lady who was helping me. I had neglected to gather the document on my first three generations, as I knew them. She really wanted to see the info on my 3rd generation so that she knew we were moving in the right direction. In my case there were two written books on my patriot and I certainly used them as my road map to gathering records. Unfortunately for Betty Jo, we don't have the luxury of sitting down with her and looking at her documents.
