Palmer: Descendants of Reverend Joshua Palmer of South Carolina and Indiana

Rev. Joshua Palmer had three children: William, Mary, and Joshua.

William (1774-1840) married Jane Gill in 1803. About 1808 they moved from Laurens County, South Carolina to what is now Union County, Indiana. After a few years they moved to Fayette County, Indiana, then in 1828 to Knox County, Illinois. After a brief time in Henderson County, Illinois, they moved to Rock Island County, where they lived the rest of their lives. They had 10 children. Surnames of descendants include Palmer, Morris, Rust, Cousland, Wilkinson, Huff, and Vanatta.

Mary (1779-1848) married William Sparks about 1796. They moved to what is now Union County, Indiana about 1808. A few years later they moved to the vicinity of Connersville, Fayette County, Indiana, where they lived the rest of their lives. Surnames of descendants include Sparks, McCray and Harlan.

Joshua (1784-184?) married Fanny Stiles in Laurens County, South Carolina in 1802. They moved to what is now Union County, Indiana about 1808. From there they moved west and at various times lived in Johnson, Shelby, and Bartholomew counties, and possibly Owen County. Joshua died sometime between 1845 and 1848. His widow moved with some of her children to Sullivan County, Missouri and died there in 1861. Surnames of descendants include Palmer, Mays or Maze, Kitchell, and Hicks.
