Barnes Family of Dorset to Newfoundland (Canada)

Hello,

I am looking for anyone that maybe have a Dorset - Newfoundland connection, with the surname Barnes. 

I have an ancestor, John Barnes that married Louisa Tucker in 1821, Carbonear, Newfoundland.  Louisa Tucker was from Harbour Grace, Newfoundland.  John Barnes was from Wimborne, Dorset.  That is all I have.  No parents names, no date of birth (or place of birth).  Being a common name it's making research difficult.

I'm interested in anyone that is researching the Barnes family from that area of Dorset, or any tips on where I should look for records of ships that went to Newfoundland around the 1820 time line.
