Extracted from the three election books to the Dunfermline Incorporation, 1596-1683, 1697-1775, and 1776-1863. The first book is in the National Library of Scotland (MS 3576), having been presented to the Library in 1948 by the estate of Mrs Janet Frame, Alloa, through the good offices of W R Aitken, the librarian of Clackmannan County Library; the other 2 Manuscript Books are in Dunfermline Central Library. Election entries from the first book have been copied into the second. Other notes have also been taken from the other MS Trade Books in Dunferlime Library, namely the Minute Books, 1793-1824 and 1825-1858, and the Account Book, 1809-1838. The only extant record book not consulted has been the Qualified and General Roll Book, now in the Dunfermline Museum (Inv 1968.490), kept from 1792 to the closing of the craft. Notes have also been taken from "The Weaver's Craft. Being A History of the Weavers' Incorporation of Dunfermline" (1903) by Daniel Thomson, hereafter abbreviated as Thomson. The index below has principally been taken from the election books. A more detailed index has been compiled by Martin Norgate, the Curator of Dunfermline Museum, in 1974, copies of which can be found at the Dunfermline Museum and also at Dunfermline Central Library.
