Vin Moore, welcome to this exceptional site. From here, you might visit Madehlinne's site - http://maddiesancestorsearch.blogspot.com/ - and follow suggestions from her and our Guiding Star, Barbara Whiteside.

I am researching Peter Banta, born Henry County, Ky about 1810. He migrated to Texas via Ohio and Missouri. His wife was Susan, born in Vermont. In 1850 he is in Milam County, Texas, with his wife and children.
However, I cannot ascertain who his parents were. A hint might be that his daughter was Miranda. It might be that he had a second marriage and the daughter from that marriage was also Miranda.

I wonder if someone could help me.

I do have a photo of Epke...had it for years and his bald pate is still handed down as a legacy to his male descendants....lol. Old Hendrick 3rd is my fth gt grandfather twice...I descend from his youngest daughter by first wife, Rachel Brower, Charity or Geertje...and from his son, John by his second wife Antie Demarest, Johns oldest daughter, Polly/Maria, married Francis Montfort Jr, son of Johns half sister, Charity Banta Montfort [Francis Sr.]......so guess that makes me double Dutch...lol.
