Greg,

Do you have any relatives that go by the name of Sarah Margaret Dye? I am looking for her parents, etc for my genealogy for my son. Please advise within group replies.

Thanks,
Donna Smeall
Hi Donna, I have about 20 Sarah Dyes in my files, but none with a middle name of Margaret.
Can you give me a little more information on Sarah date of birth, where and I'll do a little more checking.
Thank,
Greg

Sarah Margaret Dye was married to Charles Edwin Gates of Birmingham, AL.  She had two children: 1) adopted : Anne Marie Gates (married name: WILLIS) and 2) John Charles Gates (biological) born 03.03.1960.

Sarah's father was John M. Dye.  Beyond that, I would have to put the database out and send you a file.  I found a large number of the Dyes connected to her and her family last night via Ancestry.com.

Look for Perdy52 on Ancestry.com and you will see more information on her family etc.

Thanks,

Donna Smeall

(former daughter-in-law, mother of Sarah's grandson, David Victor Gates)

Hello Greg Dye. I see you posted quite awhile ago but decided to take a chance. I lineage also goes back to Lauren Duyts with the move from NJ into West Virginia where many Dye's still live. Were you able to obtain any other Dye info besides what's easy to find online? I have had no luck and even less with the WV Dyes. I've sent some letter to those who I know for certain are relatives, but nothing back.

Additional information I have only goes back to my ggg grandfather James Dye after he and family moved into McDonough and Hancock Co. Illinois.  From about 1850 this way they have left me a pretty good paper trail from Illinois and on into Missouri.

Hi Greg - Hello Cousin

I am a g granddaughter of Celia Dye born 1835 Ohio. She was the daughter of John Dye 1804-1872. Celia married John Roberts in Scotland Co., MO and they came to CA along with 4 of her sisters soon after that. I am trying to gather documentation for a DAR application. Do you have any source I can use as to Celia being born in McConnelsville, Morgan Co., OH? However that is not as important as some proof that her mother was Nancy Archer and that her father John Dye was the son of James Dye and Barbara Livengood.

Any help will be most appreciated. Linda Roberts Baker

Hi - Well I actually solved my last problem. I was able to obtain a quitclaim where Celia Dye McKimmon signed her inheritance of Scotland Co., MO to her sister and brother-in-law.

New problem is finding a source to document the death of Nancy Archer Dye - wife of John Dye. Nancy died in Scotland Co., MO in 1856 or so and is buried in Bible Grove Cemetery. But Mr. Dodge published a book on Scotland Co Cemeteries and listed her death as 1877. Now I am trying to find a source to verify she died about 1856/57. Her husband John remarried in 1857 to Martha Harryman. Till working on that DAR application.
