Olson in Alvsborg

I am trying to verify I have the right person.. My grandfather William Peter Olson came from Sweden & lived in Colorado from 1885 to 1936. He was a stone mason and worked for the railroad I have a death certif in 1936 that shows his father as Ol Martinson mother unknown Census & other records show him born from 1851 to 1855. I found a Peter Wilhelm Olofsson born in Habol Alvsborg 22 Jan 1853 to OlOF Martensson and Britta Marie Magnusdotter. in Familysearch.org. I believe this to be my grandfather. There is a difference however, the 1900 census shows him born in February of 1853 He had 4 other siblings brothers and parents were married in 1844 Dals Ed. Is there a way I could find out when he emigrated to the US I believe He is in the 1880 census for Hennepin county Minnesota I found a william Olson as a border who was a stone mason. Taks Any help would be appreciated . Mike Schummer

His Siblings were Carl Gustaf Olofsson f 6 Nov 1849 ,Isaak Olofsson 26 Aug 1855, Isaak Died 7 Oct 1860.,Alfrid Olofsson 27 Nov 1859. All in Habol Alvsborg. I couldnt find a marriage or Deaths other than Isaak. Mike Schummer

Hi, I can see that Peter William ( Wilhelm) Olsson, born febr. 22, 1853 emigr. to America in 1874.
His parents: Olof Mårtensson, born July 30, 1817
and Britta Maja ( Maria) Magnusdotter, born June 14, 1817
Siblings,( as far as I can see now) is:
Martin, born March 6, 1845
Matilda, born Jan.20. 1847
Carl Gustaf, born Nov. 6, 1849
Isak, born Aug. 23, 1855, dead Sept. 21, 1860
Alfred, born nov.21 1859

Could this be your ancestors?

Hi Yvonne, Thank you very much, I am sure that is my grandfather , I couldnt make out the name of town Ol Martensson was born in. I tried to search for Britta marie Magnusdotter in Family search for a Britta in Billingfors but the one shown was born in April of 1817..Also should Matilda 's surname be Olofsdotter. Olof Mårtensson was born in: "Hesselskog" it is now called " Edsleskog" parish in Älvsborgs county. The date is a little different in the books, but in the book for the birth it says March 29, 1871.
His parents: Mårten Jansson and Maria Larsdotter.
Britta Maja Magnusdotter was born in Billingsfors parish, Älvsborgs county.
Her parents: Magnus Pärsson and Anna Cajsa Björsndotter.

Yes, Matlida´s sur name should be: Olofsdotter, can also be Olsdotter.

Thanks Yvonne, I was able to go back to the late 1600's with my Olsons on Ancestry .
