Ackroyds of Bradford, Yorkshire

My family is decendant from Jonathan Ackroyd who married Mary Hainsworth around 1828.  His son Jonathan was baptised in 1829.  Jonathan married Harriet Cathrall.  My great - great grandfather Joseph was born in 1851.  He married Mary Jane Baildon Rawnsley a widow in 1873.  The family immigrated to the US in 1886. They first landed at Castle Garden and then Boston eventually settling in New Bedford, MA.  There they worked in the textile mills.  From there they moved to the Lawrence/Metheun/Haverhill area also working in the textile mills.  Joseph died around 1895 or so.  His son William married Grace Deacon.  They resided in Haverhill then moved to Providence, RI to Pittsfield, MA and eventually in the Philadelphia, PA area.
