Wow, Maria, you have made a huge contribution to indexing over the years. You are probably one of the most prolific indexers around. What is the secret to your succcess?

Thanks for the Invite Jim! You probably already know this, but some wonderful help for indexing may be found on the forums.familysearch.org. The indexing threads are quite active and answers come fairly quickly.

Hello everyone - I feel like a really old indexer. I started indexing in the days we used microfilm and cards and boxes and boxes of those! I then went to the computerized version where we were still writing on cards. It has been a delight to work with the current computerized version. I have been indexing for about 2 years using this new method and have completed about 120,000 entries. It is pretty cool to track it! Since I do a fair amount of Spanish language indexing, I find having a map very helpful.

Thanks, Jim. I've been indexing less than a year, but find it very easy to do and I enjoy feeling like I am contributing. I am sad to say that it took me a couple of months to finally figure out that my problem was the dial up connection. Once I figured that out it only took minutes to get back up and running. My problems began around Christmas and with all the activities of the season, the obligations to my genealogical society, and a few other personal issues, I did not give it as much attention as I should have.

Just be sure to follow their guides and you will be fine with the indexing. But with each batch be sure to review the guides for any changes to how they want the data entered.

Sally, glad to see you are back online. How long have you been indexing? How long did it take you to get your system fixed after getting your error? I have only indexed a few batches at this point, so I'm interested in learning from the experiences of others.

Thanks for starting this group. I have just recently been able to get back into the indexing page. For some reason my system kept giving me a failure to launch message. It turned out I had to reload the system and in order to do that I had to go somewhere with high speed internet. I am on dial up and can index just fine (a bit slower, but still can do it), but the re-installation had to be done on a high speed connection. Back in action now!
