I saw that this group was Featherstone, Featherston and all the haughs:)  As typing isn't everyone's forte, haugh was misleading to me.  Thanks for the meaning of the word.  cheers and happy researching.

Featherstonhaugh and the name Haugh I don't think are related.

Haugh is a term meaning side of a valley, there are lots of place names ending Haugh in the Tyne valley.

Have just found your group and joined because my paternal grandfather was Robert Dewart and he married Barbara Haugh in Sunderland Durham UK.  Their marriage record reads as Dwert.  I believe that the Haughs are a large family from my contact experience but I've yet to discover anyone connected to my Barbara.

Hi All, I am the great granddaughter of the California Featherstones. They mostly lived in Visalia, CA. Matthias "Sly" Featherstone moved to CA around 1860-1870 from Illinois.
