Germany-> Renfrew, CAN -> Detroit -> Southern California
My Feltz family starts with the mysterious Fredericka "Velz" Gutzeit. She and her husband and their children moved in with the equally mysterious Herman Feltz and his wife, Fredericka von Manteuffel Feltz, in Renfrew County, Ontario in 1871. I don't know where in Germany they came from, and am guessing that Mrs. Gutzeit and Herman Feltz were related.
From there, the family moved to the Detroit area, circa 1894-ish, and then on to Ontario, California, in 1910.
Other Feltz families I frequently encounter include the Pelee Island, Ontario Feltz clan; Carl Feltz and his large family in Santa Rosa County, California; and the Feltz family that was in Monroe, Michigan at the same time as "mine." All coincidence, or some connection?
