I've been following the subject on why you receive no thank you's for photos/corrections/transfers. I was a new member at F-A-G when I first started asking for requests. I had requested many photos over the past few months, not knowing how quickly our volunteers responded. I was bombarded by over a hundred photo requests that had been fulfilled.
The first week I tried to respond to all the photos fulfilled by volunteers; however, I found most of my research time spent on thanking our wonderful volunteers. They are all so kind and happy to fulfill our requests and it makes me so happy when they send me photos I cannot travel to in other states.
Into the second week, still more photos coming in, and I kept thinking I'll get to them after I finish my research on a complex family. Sorry to say, bad judgement on my part. This past weekend, I decided to respond to ALL the volunteers with special notes - do or die;-). I wanted them to know that I do appreciate the time and effort they took out of their day to fulfill my request. My folder is empty!!! I feel like a weight has been lifted.
I learned a very valuable lesson - work on one family at a time; therefore, I won't be be overwhelmed with my responses. Now, all caught up, I can continue my work on F-A-G at a slower pace knowing how easily we can get ourselves in a bind. I think this is probably the best answer for most members; they are snowed under with follow-up thank you's. My conscience is clear now, and I will work at a slower pace on F-A-G.
For researchers, F-A-G is a true treasure, and it gives members an opportunity to add memorials and if we find an error, most are quick to correct. However, I do have to agree there are a few (and I am dealing with one myself) that will not correct or at least transfer so I can make the corrections. I understand it is time consuming; especially, if you have over 40,000 memorials. However, some refuse for whatever reason.
I love this site - so much input from so many groups. Thanks Genealogy Wise for the creation of this site. Everyone, have a nice week.

Hi, I have request photos and always thank the person for thier work, I have also tried to go to a Cemetery to take some photo's sometimes it is very hard to located the right plot. The problem of peolpe not inputing Correct information might be solved if they were required to list the source of the Information they input. Also there should be a limit to how many Memorial's you can manage. Another problem I just had deleted Memorial's, this person said she can't manage alot of Memorial's any longer so she just started deleting some, Why didn't she transfer them to other people or back to the Admin at F.A.G., I have seen some Memorial's with the manager as being inactive?
You can write to the site managers, if the person managing the memorial does not make the corrections in 30 days the site managers will step in and correct the memorial! I have done this 3 or 4 times.
