How to find out who needs pictures?

Jo,

 

If you go to the Find-A-Grave page for that Cemetery, you will see a link for requested photographs. Clicking on that link, you will see unfulfilled requests.

 

If you are going and want to take pictures, look at the list of internments and look for an "RIP" ICON next to the name. Looking at that Memorial, you will see a photo. So, if you want to just take pictures. print the list and take photos of anyone without that ICON.

 

When I go to take requested photos, I do a little research a head of time, looking for those without that ICON and will print a page or to, specifically with the same surname of the person I am taking a photo for. For females, that might be two lists, one for the birth surname and the other for a married surname.

 

Again, that ICON is the key.

Thank you, I'll go look to see if any one needs any thing in peticular, I like the "those with out an icon" suggestion, as it will work for other cemeteries I frequent..

Hi Jo,

Russ said it right. The only thing I will add is you do need to be an active F-A-G member to post photos. As an alternative, if you don't want to post the photos yourself you can send the photo to the person who manages the memorial for him/her to post. That may or may not be the person who made the photo request. But why not register with F-A-G and post them yourself?

I have an app for my smart phone for Find-A-Grave. Comes in very handy.

Is it an app or bookmark? I have a bookmark but if an app was developed I might prefer using that.

it's in beta, but it has come in handy "in the field".

I am a registered member, but never realy done much past filling out the profile things. I registered a while back, but was not sure how things worked.I recieved a lot of "requests" but they were way out of my area by about 200 miles, so I never realy persued particilation in the site. I found a great great aunt there and it was put up by some one not even related to our family, they offered to "transfer" it to me but I didn't know what that meant, besides I already have her grave and would have preferred to post my own photo, because she is buried next to her parents and nephew. You would only know that if you were a family member.

You might want to check your zip code settings. I should only send you emails for a 10 mile radius.

 

Transfer of ownership means that you can update / make changes to that person. For example: if you know parents, spouse, or children of your great-great-aunt, you can Link them together. Using the Memorial Number.

 

Since you have her Parents, check their Memorial Number, then you can make those links. Really cool feature.

Jo,

 

It doesn't matter where the people are buried, the Memorial Number does the linking.

 

For example: My Great-Grandfather is buried in Kansas. There is a link from him to my Grandfather, buried in Pennsylvania. On my Grandfathers memorial, there is a link back to his father in Kansas and to my Dad who is buried in New Jersey.

 

Great feature.

Look up the cemetery your going to and click on it. In the center under "links" is photo requests....there appears to be one listed:
