Hi Everyone
I have been doing this type of thing for over five years for my own family tree with some success. And I have FAILED Especialy if the grave yard has been built over sold or the headstones have been taken down for health and saftey reasons which seems to be the case in the u.k rather than pay for the upkeep.I now take my Sat nav with me and note the longdetude and latatude position of the grave-headstone and either note it on the back of the photo or keep a log and it will not be lost again and I am sure in the future some one in my family will be pleased that i did .ITS JUST A THOUGHT!!!

Bob,
What a great idea. So many burial places are lost for so various reasons. I just hate it all, especially when the burial sites are washed away along the Gulf of Mexico (I live in Louisiana), along the rivers etc. But most of all when the highway department wants to put a roadway through the cemeteries and when "the powers be" decide to make the area a lake or reservoir.

Hi members,

I wanted to share the GenWise group: Geotagging - GPS Coordinates with FindAGrave Addicts and found this discussion the perfect place to do so. That's a great point, Bob, about logging the coordinates for archival purposes in-the-case the physical markers are moved or damaged.
