Shirley,

Family can use it all they want, but they cant sell them. That is where I draw my line on my photos. There are sites to sell photos, and if I find my work on them I do report it. Sharing fine, selling, nope!

300 or 400? sheesh, i get capped off at 50 lol i have a number of my own relatives, but i also request many people with variants of the McGonigle surname, because I'm doing a surname study. But i know some people that put requests in for photos or memorials that don't have any. so these people with lotsa requests might not be the time wasters you think they are. possibly they just want to see memorials to be a little more complete.... just a thought...

Not understanding why anyone would not give permission to family to use the pictures put on Find A Grave.  I state in my profile that they do not need to ask me, I put them there for them to use.  Aren't we in this to help others?  I thought genealogists were very open and giving.  Apparently not all of them.

Rebecca, the link I added has the process, it costs 45.00 to copyright your business name. Its been a while since I did the process, so I will have to make sure that my watermark is still good.

I really enjoy solving a mystery for people who request photos. This one individual had 3 individuals with the same name. But the Grandfather went by a different name. I was able to help the person clear it up with the photos of the gravestones, and the grandfather was buried next to the grandmother. When we finally have a warmer day I am going back to get a clear picture of the back of the stone, because snow covered the bottom two names, and one is worn pretty bad. I really love helping someone solve a mystery that they themselves cant because of distance or other reasons.

Dawn, how did you copyright your photos? I though any photo taken by me was copyrighted, but yet the photos keep getting used by other people. You're right too, this is a volunteer site, with volunteers working it by their own free will. I sometimes get into the family history with people, just because it helps them. Maybe someday they will find something I need and help me, and for that matter, several already have. I love findagrave, they have never done me wrong, I hope I never give them a reason to be "ticked off" and I've been in touch with them several times. Very helpful people.

If you take a lot of photos, here is a link on how to copyright them

Why don't all you chatters move to a chat room with you must chat and not try up this room for what it was originally designed for.

Why? Any photo taken has a watermark attached, with my business name on it. The reason is so that others can not profit off my work. I will even when requested send a full size photo that can be printed out to the requester.
