I just heard the Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheatridge Colorado does not like Findagrave. I bet it is because they get lots of requests for the location of a plot to take a picture for someone. I thought that is part of the reason people work at a cemetery office, to help you? It seems anyone who paid to be interred there has already paid for the employees time to help look them up. Maybe I am wrong. Sad!

Volunteers in the Bexar County Texas area: I have had a volunteer contributed review of a cemetery that charges $50/hr to locate grave locations as a way to put off having to do look ups. BEWARE of this cemtery.

I have been taking pictures for fag for almost a year now, the one thing that i have come across is when another person has taken the picture and then says "hers is copywrited so " then you can not put it on say ancestory's site for your family tree.
I have been asked many times to go and retake the pictures for the family requesting it - this is my stand point- i do not care where or how they use it in their tree, i am just wanting family to be connected from birth to the grave.
I think its really none of the other persons business where that family member choses to put her history- on a paid site or not. Its family connecting to family , And if asked i will easily transfer graves that i have made upJust my two cents

No problem - I figure that there's always a way to connect other family searchers. I think it's always important to know how people connect.

I have been fortunate that someone turned over a 4x great grandfather to me. They even went back and took additional photos at that same cemetery just in case they were relatives. I hadn't even asked for them to do that! I had someone ask me to turn over a memorial page to them but they weren't related. They were collecting people that had served on the same ship together. I didn't turn it over since I was worried that a relative would come along and ask for it to be transferred and then be told no by the person I gave it to.

Sue,

That is a great idea to add no direct relation or great uncle X4 for example. Do you mind if I borrow that for my posts?

I also contribute to FindAGrave. I have found some of my ancestors also. I usually put how I am realted when I post a memorial (sometimes it's "great uncle x4 cousin ,etc) no "Direct" relation, but I like people to know how I relate. I have had several memorials turned over to me, but others that are really direct have not been.

I also either try to add the information that people ask and then ask if they would like to own it. Some do and some don't.

I am seeing more and more complaints like yours. What is wrong with people, are they so worried about numbers they forget why we are on findagrave? I am so sorry to hear of what has happened to you. I have a similar situation with an Iowa person....I would write to Findagrave again. They have been so great...do not give up....I am sure they will figure a way. Good luck! And just know not all of us findagravers are selfish!
