I was thinking about making a project photographing markers in Alta Mesa cemetary in Palo Alto Calfornia, but have no knowledge of how to go about it or what to do with the photos?

I've been a FindAGrave member for years and never thought I'd be searching for a horse's memorial stone. Yes, a horse. I recently read about a 1937 ceremony for Tom, the last surviving Wash DC Fire Horse, and it captured my interest and wont go away. I've added "Tom FireHorse" to FindAGrave, and a short bio. His stone was impressive and paid for by school children and firemen. Sadly, the stone has gone missing. This is the mystery that keeps me interested in this story. If you want to know more about Tom you can find details with a google search

Darlina, You could try a couple things: Look up the county where this cemetery is supposed to be, and see if you can find it in their cemetery list, if they have one; call the county genealogy society if there is one and find out where it is; and if that doesn't work, maybe one of the local funeral homes or the county assessors office. Good luck!

I did not take GIS mapping in college. I have a description of a cemetery that needs better directions than I have. Here is what I have: "Section 28, Township 13 North, Range 2 East
Latitude 39 degrees 32.695 minutes North~Longitude 086 degrees 18.791 minutes West~Estimated Position Error 116 feet." What I need to know is how to enter it using the findagrave lattitude/longitude GIS mapping equivalent. Any suggestions?

I found "findagrave.com" by accident and I have been hooked ever since. I have added some of my relatives and think it's a great memorial for them. The sad thing is I can't find a single thing on my husband's relatives. There isn't anything on Burwells from Franklin County, Virginia except the ones I added of his grandfather and grandmother.

Did you figure out how to add a virtual cemetery? I think there's a button that says add virtual cemetery.
You can also add people you don't know where they are buried. Choose recent death, don't know cemetery, at end.
