Hey Leonard, I don't know how you are coming up with 86 million. Their home page invites us to search the 77 million grave records.
Betty, What do you mean "update my information?" Do you mean your profile? Or do you mean adding/updating memorials? I also don't understand your final question. Are you asking for suggestions on updating your profile or how to get photos when the high gas prices prevent you from traveling.
I have tried twice to update my information on find a grave but it won't update. Due to gas prices I am no longer to travel long distances to take photos. Any suggestions?
I am on there quite a bit. If the numbers assigned to new memorials are an indicator there are now over 86 million records.
Look at how the site keeps growing and growing. It wasn't that long ago they had 60 million records. Now it is 77 million records. It appears that the whole site runs on CGI scripts. Maybe there is an expert programmer out there that could tell us - would php scripts run faster? Are there other choices that would speed things up? Of course the other question is when last did they do a server upgrade. It would seem that the site owners do NOT have deep enough pockets to have the latest greatest of everything to speed things up. Wouldn't it be great if one of the owners monitored this site and stepped in to answer a couple of these questions? Another question - how many volunteer users are there at Find-a-grave. How about everyone send the owners $5 to upgrade the servers. I would send $20 myself. How about the rest?
Findagrave.com has been real slow loading pages these past few months. Anyone else experiencing this? It could be my own browser.
For a Cemetery transfer on F.A.G., I would email them and ask them to transfer it. You will need your F.A.G. number and theirs. It will probably take some time for them to do this, but it should be no problem.
Great job memoralizing an abandoned cemetery. From what I have seen in central KY these cemeteries are fast disappearing.
Darlina, as far as I know, only the Admins can transfer an entire cemetery. I don't think you need to transfer it. Anyone can add records to it any time. Even tho you set it up, it is available for others for adding memorials. If anyone wants a memorial or memorials, you could makes transfers when requested. Perhaps someone will ask for it.
