My Cabarrus County, North Carolina great aunt, Mrs. "Aunt Ora" (Miller) Jessie Pike, joined the DAR there on local Revolutionary War Patriot Capt. Frederick Fisher (German) by first wife Rosanna ____? Most are in on second wife Ann McBride of whom U.S. Senator, Confederate Col. Charles Fisher descended, for whom Fort Fisher, below Wilmington, North Carolina, is named. Very conservative, late U.S. Congressman Jessie Helms of Raleigh was also a descendant, as was alledgedly President Jimmy Carter's mother, via the Fisher branch to Tenn., then to Georgia. That might be the "blind" Fisher branch?

Christine, in the 1830-40's, many Cabarrus County, N.C., "Dutch Buffalo Creek" Germans removed to Union and Madison Cos., Ill.; amongst them Millers, Barringers (Beringer), and Ridenhour, et al) . In the Lutheran churches there, the names on the tombstones remind one of the Cabarrus Co., N.C., Lutheran churches. Kenneth, many of the 1750's to 1800's Cabarrus Co., N.C., Germans such as my "Col. Dr." (the consistant titles are a mystery, nothing indicates he was either). He wrote his will in Penn. in contemplation of his journey to N.C. where it was finally probated. A former acting director of the CIA has his Penn. rifle he brought to N.C.

If there is any information about John FISHER who married Martha "Mattie" EARLEY on 30 Aug 1865 in Keokuk, Lee, Iowa, I would like to see it. They had one child, Edward Earley FISHER, born 21 Jul 1868 (though I think it was 1866), in Keokuk. Edward moved to Lincolnville, KS and spent the rest of his life there raising a family of 11 children with his wife Lillie Alma MOSS.

I think we need a FISHER UK group to discuss the genealogy of the families in the UK

Hi, I'm descended from Sarah FISHER born in about 1788 and lived in Somerset England. Sarah FISHER was the common-law wife of Richard BETTY. They had at least 10 children christened at Stoke St. Gregory in Somerset, between 1815 - 1833. Their grandson, Samuel Hallett FISHER was born in either Somerset or Middlesex and went to NSW Australia in the 1860's.
