There is a DNA test available to enable bloodlines to link to the glenorchy clan !

Hi

I hope to have a DNA test next year to try and find which clan my bloodline belongs to. I am new to Family History but hope to improve as time goes on.

I hope my line is with Glen Orchy ( they make a good Scotch)-'Orchy' I would be very proud as a Welsh man to find I have other Celtic roots such as Scottish Ancestry.

Thank you for your time to this matter.I have now started to collect photos, memories etc.and placed some family information on Genes Reunited Website.

I am new to this website so here's hoping?

Rob.

Hi Robert,
Welcome! So what brings you here? You must have found some good clues that hint at a Scottish connection. We are a very small clan. Most Fletchers you meet will be English ones, often with Yorkshire origins. We are not related to them at all. We are celtic people from the west highlands of Scotland and probably Irish 1000s of years before that. Our name was anglicised by the 9th clan chief in the 1700s from the original Gaelic name MacInleisdair (spelling not exact). We have some DNA samples for comparison already, including my father, who is believed to have been the last Fletcher ever born in Glen Orchy, nearly 80 years ago now. Lots of info. to share! If you would like to join another active Fletcher group I belong to, please provide your email address so I may invite you.
