Fosters from Whitchurch/Stouffville area in Southern Ontario

Hi:

My paternal grandmother was a Foster and her family was from England a few generation prior.  The problem is I have no clue where in England they were from.  I have not been able to find anything that gives any clues and no alive seems to know anything.  Very frustrating for me to continue backtracking. Even though the family was in Ontario, my grandmother was apparently born in Richmond USA according to her marriage record and one census record.  It changes to Ontario after that.  I have no idea which state that Richmond is in. I do know there is more than one, so that doesn't help.  I'm guessing they went to visit relatives and she had the baby while there. This is the only grandparent that I can't track backwards to the immigration point.

Not holding my breath in finding anything soon. :(
