Bernie,

Perry, Frank's next oldest brother (b 1886), was my grandfather. My Dad mentioned his Uncle Frank a couple of times.

If my records are correct, your father was also a Perry Foster.

Kristina,
I'm descended from William's younger brother, Jasper (a.k.a. Code). He's my great-grandfather.

Hi,

My name is Richard Foster, and I came across this group while searching for information about my Foster ancestors. I am descended from James Foster (in PA & VA), through his son Michael (in VA, KY, TN), and grandson Hiram. Based on several of the postings, it appears that at least a couple of this group's members share this linage, so I thought I'd join.

I have a fair amount of information documenting Michael's descendents, which I'm willing to share. My current task is to find documentation relating to Michael's ancestors, particularly his father (James) and grandfather (Alexander?)

Debra, thanks for looking..When she filed either the second or third time for Carroll's pension she stated that he abandoned the family Jan. 29, 1859, Carroll dies in 1862 at the Battle of Pea Ridge and the date that I have is Jun 12, 1869 that she is filing, so she is still in Osceola, Clarke Co., IA. So for at least 10 yrs she says she doesn't even know if he is dead or alive. Now she goes on to NE in 1870 and her son says in his biography that his mother was a widow. So this kind of narrows it down to 1869-1870? She had to have heard something or just got tired of the fact he had abandoned them.

I look in my cemeteries book. I didn't find Hiram Foster in either book.

Any Foster's out there that live in Iowa? I wonder if old Hiram died there. If you do let me know. Hiram Foster b-1810-1811 KY He left his wife and 13 kids for another woman, according to family history. His wife said he left 1859, I can't find him on the 1860 census, just her. She sticks around Iowa for about 10 more years and then homesteads with the kids in NE. When she comes to Nebraska it states she is a widow. Is this just for show or did she hear something when she lived in Iowa.
