The Gatrall/Garland Story

I am trying to find out why my Grandfather, birth name THOMAS HENRY GATRALL whilst Head of Household in 1901 entered his children as GATRALLS in the Census when they were living in Uckfield, East Sussex BUT in the 1911 census, after having moved to Nottingham in 1902, entered himself and the children as GARLANDS.
