How do you organize your heritage scrapbook?

I've been working for years to start a heritage scrapbook but don't know how it should be organize. I thought I would start with myself & work backwards. I've been collecting photographs for years & know of others that I have tried to get copies from my cousin. I just found a 3rd cousin that has photos that I had never seen before.
