I found a plan online for a camera stand last summer. My husband made the stand for me. I mount my camera on the top of the stand and lay my scrapbook page on the base of the stand then take the picture. It works great. I clamp lamps to the sides of the stand to get good lighting. It isn't a perfect system yet but it is definitely better than what I was doing.
I don't have a picture of my stand handy but I will take one. For now, here is a link to the directions I used. http://www.curbly.com/Chrisjob/posts/3907-how-to-make-a-diy-camera-...
I think he made his for animation but it works well for photographing 12x12 scrapbook pages also. I think it cost us around $40 for the materials.
I used the stand to take pictures of 205 scrapbook pages last summer. In 2002 or 2003 I organized groups of my Aunts, cousins, and an Uncle to put all of my Grandpa's photos into scrapbooks. It was after he passed away that I finally found the camera stand plan and was able to make copies of the scrapbook pages that we made.
I would like to make copies of Grandpa's albums for each of his children but I don't know of an inexpensive way to do it and still have good quality. There are 8 living children. What method do you think you will use to make the albums for your children?
In the future if I want to make albums to give to several people I will do digital scrapbooks. I was thinking you were making copies of existing scrapbooks for each of your seven children, not getting a group of people together to make the albums.
I have never done digital scrapbooking, so I would not know, but it does seem to make sense, you just print out 7 copies of each page. Something to thing about. When you do digital scrapbooking, you would need a larger printer, or can you get it custom work, like staples?
Everytime I have made a digital scrapbook (4 or 5 times) I have used a service where I make the scrapbook using free software online and then order the printed book. The services I have used for this are picaboo, shutterfly, and ancestry (my canvas). I'm sure there are lots of other good companies but these three have worked well for me. All of the digital books have been 8.5x11 or smaller.
