A good start.
I've commented elsewhere about Cyndi's List and similar sites with a zillion categories. Since GenyWise is a newbie, it can start with some framework.

To make room for the Table of Contents I'd also drop "birthdays". They can do living personal history on their family websites or Facebook.

The "featured groups" are somewhat in the way.
A basic Table of Contents of links would really help, such as:

GenealogyWise helps
Education- Getting Started
Genealogical & Historical Associations (societies, user groups)
Localities (add the 50 states, 5 U.S. regions, top 45 countries to start)
Historical record types (start with top 30, use LC/FHL subject headings)
Surnames & Families
Technology (a special topic)
Topics (from Adoption, Archives, to Ethnic groups, to Writing)

Look at the upcoming conference at BYU, and the national NGS conference coming to Salt Lake in April 2010 to see what the hot categories are!

I know you originally had the idea to feature groups through out GW so others could have a chance to be known, but upon seeing several of the featured groups having to do with GW stuff...perhaps it would better serve the membership if just the groups to do with GW, moving around in the site, help, etc...wouldn't be a better idea...as perm.

If you wanted to make other groups known, why not have a link list, instead? You could feature 25 links, changing them weekly, and it would only take 104 days to get to everyone. At the current rate...some groups will never be featured, within memory! LOL!!!

Hi, Re my comment below dated july 23.2009 ay 3.56 pm I have resolved problem. On "MyPage" I went to Edit Picture and was able to change heading. I think " Edit Picture" is misleading,for me as a graphics programme user and i'h sure many are, itt means change some aspect of the picture itself - not the name or description. I hope this may be usefful to others
