My paternal Grandfather took the test for the Smith line. From those results we have learned that the Smith, Lee, and Chance families some how got "mixed up." I'm guessing that we are actually Lees. And how lovely would that be to learn you are really another surname and it's just as common as your original surname?

My maternal grandfather took the DNA test and his results are entered into the Goodwin/Godwin surname project. We currently have about 60 participants separated into the two groups. My grandfather's DNA respresents hundreds of descendants of his line, which is nice, because now they don't have to fork out the money for the test. Also, we are doing great work getting the North Carolina Godwins sorted out. I believe by the end of the year we will have a greater understanding of who the original two Godwin men were who came into the States.
