Hi Linda! My mother's maiden name is Christ. Her great-grandfather, Ludwig Andreas Christ, was born in Hausen an der Zaber in Baden-Wurttemberg in 1844 and died in Buffalo, New York in 1886.

An LDS family history volunteer in Wurzburg told me that Christ was a common surname adopted by converted Jews, but I don't know how much validity there is to that. I've had my mom's brother's YDNA tested and the Y haplogroup is R1b1, which is not one of the ones associated with Jewish ancestry in Europe.

I'll share more about my mom's paternal line if you think there's a possibility of common ancestry!

Hi, I have a sister named Valerie and my grandfather is named William Charles Christ. He was born in New York, 1891.

So far as I know he had only one brother, Herbert Christ. However, my great grandfather, John Christ had many brothers and sisters. I am thinking that his father could have been Henry Christ or Samuel Christ.

About the common surname of Christ adopted by converted Jews, I do believe it is true.

My paternal line Y DNA is "I1". My MT DNA is "T2".

Going backward into dna history my I1 y dna goes back to R1b; R1a and have been found to match with some of the ancient Egyptian Kings. One King was found to have had red hair. Some of those Egyptian Kings had more than 100 children.

In Ysearch.org I found about 10 matches (S9M3B) Georg Christ born 1779 Wurzburg, Bavaria, Bayern, Germany.

R1a and N1c1a are 2 major lines of Rurik- whose grave is in old Uppsala, Sweden. See Varangian-Byzantine Empire and Emperor Basil II. High I1 in Istanbul, Turkey/Crimean Tartars served the Ottoman Empire.

My 1st cousins SRY10831.1 G is Positive and equates to Haplogroup BT-BR/R1a and M89 Positive= F haplogroup which puts us in Cyprus and the Canaanites/Phoenicians and J2 haplogroup.

My theory based on my research indicates to me that life began in Egypt and since only the Pharoah's 1st born son could be King, that means 99 others had to find some other occupation. Many became High Priests and thus over time evolved into the Jewish faith through the father of King Tut who was the first King to begin to believe in One God. Monotheism. As the weather conditions began to change and food became harder to find many were forced to move out of Egypt to find greener pastures.

I think that my grand uncle Herbert Christ married a Jewish woman named Ceil, Seal, not sure of the spelling.

The woman that my great grandfather(John Christ) married is Annie Schickerinsky. I broke down the name into 2 family names. Schick e Rinsky. During the 1800's to early 1900's there were a lot of Jewish Russian's who left Russia.

I found numerous Rinsky surnamed Russian Jews. Schick is harder to find. But if one thinks about the Schick razor blade corporation which is now headquartered in Germany, they once manufactured or rather hand made via blacksmiths swords. When the age of chivalry died, so did the need for swords as guns and rifles became the rage. Schick went into manufacturing razors for shaving beards, etc.

There are a lot of German people who lived in Russia and during the Revolution greatly desired to get out of Russia. This is one great source to look into when searching for German family.

The Tsar's wife, Alexandra was of German ancestry.

The Tsar's mother, Maria was of Danish ancestry (T2) which is very nearly German. The line is very fine.

There is a Caroline Ludwig in my family tree.

Also, my autosomal dna numbers and those of my first cousin match to the Konigsfeld Earls from Bavaria.

It seems odd that our ancestors might have been Jewish and yet went to Christian churches. Were they trying to hide their religion to that great an extent? There are millions of Christian-Jews.

Check out Geni.com and look for Heintze Christ Project. Good article there about what happened to the Christ's.

Seems that they had been fighting for many years trying to prove to the authorities??? that they are the true descendents of Jesus Christ's family.

Some Pope wanted to end the wars and christened them with the surname CHRIST and sent them on ships to other countries.

Is your mom's brother in YSearch? My cousin David Christ is.

He is: KCV4E. Go to the web site and enter his data and do a comparison. It should tell us a great deal and if we are even closely related. I feel that we just might be cousins.
