Hi Everyone,
I wonder if anyone can help me. I know my mother Anneliese Weseley (Wesely or Vesely) was born in 1927 in Mettmann Germany. Are there any Online resources where I can find her family or birth?
Thank you in advance.

My mother was born in Diepensiepen! I'm going to have a look and see what I can find. You are very kind, thank you again.
Kind regards,
Ursula
Ursula,
You're welcome.
Actually, Diepensiepen 18, 40822 Mettmann is an actual address. Diepensiepen is the street name, 18 is the building number, 40822 is the postal code (like US ZIPcodes), Mettmann is the city.
I just looked at it on GoogleMaps, looks like it is in the southern tip of the cty, near to highways; the satellite view shows a lot of nearby farmland.
Pavel
Hi Pavel,
I've been looking too. She was born at number 26 Diepensiepen. I remember stories about her living in a small hamlet, with only 2 or 3 houses. It looks like it hasn't changed much!
Here's a photo of my mum (sat on the first step closest the house) where she grew up in Diepensiepen. The photo shows seven of her siblings but we know there were 14, both myself and my brother and his wife recall stories of my mum saying she was the unlucky 13th. I can't seem to find the rest. My mothers parents moved from Austria Hungaria around 1914 (outbreak of WW1 maybe the reason) when one of my mums brothers was born in Alsfeld in 1914.
I am lucky enough to have some copies of some of the births, which I am going through.
Ursula
Ahoj Ursula,
Thanks for the photo. It is a treasure to have photos from ancestrial homeland.
Interesting one: It seems odd to move from Austria/Hungary to Rhineland Germany as an escape from war - both were war zones.
Interesting two: Můj otcovský dědeček (my Paternal Grandfather) was born in the town of Veselí nad Moravou -předměstí - Morava, Czech Republik. (Veselí in German is Wessely.) That location was part of the A/H Emp. at the time he came to US (1910). I have been able to find his direct ancestors into the 1700s.
My (maternal then paternal) Urgroßvater came from Jarmen, Prußen; a city hall employee and a church clerk from there provided me with names for family members, birth dates for him and siblings, marriage date for his parents, and a death date for his Father.
More later and I will share some pics I have.
Pavel
Hi Pavel,
My grandparents came from the Zlin and Vstine area. Not far from Vesili! I'm looking over my family tree and I'm sure I've got things muddled up so will have to go back and double check.
The more I look at it the more I am convinced that my ancestors came from Prussia but it will take me a while to unravel everything!
My biggest problem is the names, they keep changing!
Ursula
Ahoj Ursula,
I understand about changing family names. Ururgroßvater in Jarmen was "Heyden", Urgroßvater who came to US was "Heiden", Großvater was "Heyden". And in Czech, the recorded spelling changed: now Kůrečka was initially Kurecžka.
Prußen is a ways away from both Jihomoravský kraj and the Rhineland.
Also, good thing/bad thing: church records (birth, marriage and death) for Ziln from late 1600s to late 1800s are on-line.
Pavel
Hi Pavel,
I've been going through the Vstine records and found my grandfathers birth. Which of course gave me the names of his parents (which I already had on the copies of the old documents). Apparently my Great Grandfather was called 'Inocence' (who was a glass-blower - there was a big glass factory in Vstine). But further back the same name is 'Ignance'.... Mind Blowing!
Ursula
Ignatious (as a name) is Latin for Innocence; Ignance may be the German equivalent (many Czech records of the mid 1800s were still completed in German or with German name forms).
BTW, I saw the family tree pic amound your pics. L'shanna Tovah (abeit a bit late).
Pavel
Hi Pavel,
Crikey you're a mind of information! I guessed the name change was to do with language, as in Pavel being Paul (I believe) in English.
You can view my tree on ancestry.com (not sure if this is going to work)
http://trees.ancestry.co.uk/tree/25909893/family
I'm not sure if the spellings of names and places are correct, still working on it!
Kind regards,
Ursula
Ahoj Ursula,
Actually, it is Paul on my (amended via adoption in infancy) birth certificate, driver's license, and passport. Pavel is a legal aka and what I use in informal communications/when I am in the ancestral homelands,
(In the records, it is Pavel in Czech, Paúl in German and Paulus in Latin; it is Paweł on Polish.)
My tree is at
http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/9522703/family
mine is also in progress - as it should be.
And your tree is limited to paid members; I will have to give it a try on my next visit to the local library (they have a library edition giving access to all paid-member databases).
I have mine, by grandparent, in word documents as well.
Try contact at pavelmoravu@yahoo.com
Ahoj,
Pavel
Hi Pavel,
I've sent you an invite to view my tree. I haven't made it public yet as I know there is still quite a lot wrong with it. I'm trying to get to grasps with spellings and localities. Also a lot of the information has been taken from the copies of the old documents and are very hard to read and transcribe, let alone translate!
I'm getting there though.
Kind regards,
Ursula
