Searching for Biological Parents

I was born in Bremerhaven Germany on June 15th 1950.  My birth name is Eckhardt Apt.  According to birth documents I obtained, my mother's name is Erika Marie Apt (possibly maiden name).  She was employed as a housekeeper.  I believe my father's name to be Edmund Stumpf.  He was most likely in the navy or marine service of some sort.   My mother was not able to provide for me and I was placed in an orphan home for adoption.  At a couple of months of age, I was adopted by M/Sgt Evan Brock and his wife Marie.  He was serving in the US Army in Bremerhaven at the time.  I was raised primarily in the United States not discovering I was adopted until both adopted parents had passed away.  I was 33 years old.

I have made inquiries and attempts over the years to locate my biological parents with negative results thus far.  I am told Germany keeps precise records but so far I have not been successful.

I am interested in ancestory and help of any kind.  If anyone has time to provide advice or information on how to proceed, I would be most grateful.
