Granger family
One of the major Granger lines descends from Launcelot Granger of Newbury, MA and Suffield Ct. His descendants have spread throughout the country. My particular line goes from Suffield to New York, and then to Michigan. My mother was a Granger, but her branch of the family has no one left to carry on the name.
There were Grangers in the Revolution, the War of 1812, the Civil War, and probably the cousins were in every war we have had. One (Gideon) was a Postmaster General from Canandaigua NY.
There have been at least a half dozen books published on the descendants of Launcelot and his wife, Johanna Adams. Their daughter Dorothy married Robert Olds and became an ancestor of the founder of the Oldsmobile automobile company.
The tree pictured on the group logo is of a maple tree that Launcelot Granger planted in Suffield, CT in the 1680's. It lived until the middle 1920's, when it was finally removed for safety reasons. This picture is from a postcard published before it was cut down.
