I became interested in collecting data on my branch of the family tree about 12 years ago and whilst carrying out research at Redhill, Surrey Library and browsing in the Cricket section, I stumbled across details of a cricket match that took place between a team of GREENHEADs and the South Nutfield Cricket Club.
The match was part of the golden wedding celebrations of Joseph and Emma GREENHEAD in 1919 and included a reception at the club after the match attended by some 40 members of the family aged between 11 and 71. It was then that I decided to concentrate solely on the GREENHEAD family name and joined the Guild of One Name Studies to research the surname worldwide in 2004.
Over the past 5 years I have amassed data on about 3000 persons who were either born with the GREENHEAD surname or married into it and although there are still some broken branches, particularly relating to members of the GREENHEAD family who have emigrated, the tree is fairly well populated as far back as the mid nineteenth century.
My research is however far from over and I would very much like to hear from anyone with an interest in the GREENHEAD family, particularly living within the USA, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand & Australia that might be able to give me information that would connect their branch to the tree.
I would also be very pleased to provide information from my database to anyone who is seeking information on their particularly branch of the GREENHEAD family tree.
