My husband's Rib testing showed him to be part of the distinctive NW Ireland, Lowland Scotland, grouping, colorfully named after Niall, a 5th century Irish warlord. This group represents a very small percentage of R1b overall, but it reaches up to 20% of men in/from some areas in NW Ireland, especially Donegal.
As studies have progressed, the group has been variously designated R1b1c7, R1b1b2e, R1b1b2a2e. My husband's group (type?) now seems to be designated R1b1b2a1b5b. He tested with FTDNA.
The definitive SNP test for this group is a positive M222.
More standardly tested results are DYS:
390 = 25
385b = 13
392 = 14
448 = 18
449 = 30
464 = 15-16-16-17
456 = 17
607 = 16
413 = 21-23
534 = 16
481 = 25 or 24 (depending on testing lab)
714 = 24
Are any of you R1bs of this group? Or do you think you might be?
