My HAYWOOD line starts like this:

John HAYWOOD, born abt 1786, mar Sarah THORNE on 25 August 1815 in Exeter, Devon

The couple had (at least) John (1816-1888), Sarah (1821), Maria (1826), and Henry (1830).

In the 1841 census of Withycombe Raleigh, father John and daughters are enumerated as HEAWOOD; John 1816 and much younger Henry are in nearby parish Whimple, with John described as a tilemaker

 

John, a potter, born 1816 Withycombe (died 22 Sept 1888 Bovey Tracey, Devon) mar Eliza LOCK on 9 May 1842 in Honiton, Devon

The couple had John (1845-1918), Emily (1847), Anna Maria (1849-1930), Alfred (1851), Walter (1853), Albion (1856-1913), Ebenezer (1858), and Harry (1862).

In the 1861 census this family is enumerated as HOWARD...

 

John, potter/brickmaker/brick factory manager, b abt 1845 Bovey Tracey, Devon (died 1918) mar Johanna Yates MURCH on 30 September 1869 in Ottery St Mary, Devon, in the local Independents Meeting House.

The couple had: Edmund John (1870-1956), Samuel Murch (1872-1918), and Ernest (1875).  Mother Johanna died 9 days after Ernest was born.

John 1845 remarried 1878 to Eliza Neubutt DREWS.  No further children have been recorded.

Eliza died in 1902, and in 1903 John re-remarried a lady called Jane PAGE from North London.

 

Samuel Murch HAYWOOD, brickmaker/foreman of brickmaking company, born 21 May 1872 Abbotskerswell, Devon mar Emma Maud AVERY on 2 May 1893 in Stoke Damerel, Devon.

The couple had 6 boys and 4 girls, some of whom may still be living, so I have not included their names and details.

Samuel died 17 October 1918 in Devonport, Devon, of the influenza pandemic.  He was my great grandfather.
