I am also a decedent of the Hersey's of Hingham. John Hersey (1732-1777) and second wife Sarah Lincoln's (1738-1781) second daughter Mehitable (1767-1841) married Samuel Patch (1776-1842). I am having the devil of a time finding John's admin/inventory papers (He drowned at Nantasket in 1777.) and Mehitable's marriage doc. While she was born and raised in Hingham, Samuel Patch was raised in Vermont. Where could they possibly be married?

William Hersey (b 1596), the U.S. Progenitor for this Hersey line was from Reading, Berkshire, England. William and his 2nd wife, Elizabeth Croade settled in Hingham, Plymouth Co., MA The Hersey clan was in Hingham for many generations and some the descendants inter married with the descendants of the Pilgrims.
