Charles and Thomas Hooley of Knutsford, Cheshire, England

I am trying to confirm that my GGG Grandfather was Thomas Hooley who was an owner of the Royal Geroge in Knutsford, Cheshire, England. My GG Grandfather is Charles Hooley b abt 1825 in Knutsford. He was a commercial traveller who married Elizabeth Purnell in Hampshire, England in 1855. The marriage records indicate that Charles’ father is Thomas Hooley, Innkeeper. Familysearch.org has a Charles Hooley who was baptised at St John the Baptist in Knutsford in 1824. His parents are listed as Thomas Hooley and Agnes. I don’t know if this Charles Hooley is my GG Grandfather. I do know that according to familysear.org that Thomas and Agnes had a few children, one of them being Ellen who married Thomas Hurst, who was the owner of the Royal George after Thomas Hooley.

I believe Thomas Hooley was born abt 1791 in Marbury or Knutsford and married Agnes in 1811. He may be the Thomas Hooley who appears in Pigot & Co.’s Directory for 1828-9 and 1834 as owning the George on King St. He may have done some time in jail for assault in 1841.

Charles was listed as residing in Manchester in 1855 and the 1861 census has him in Swansea, Wales. He died in 1868 in Neath, Wales and was a Victualler.

It looks like it all fits together but I don’t have that definitive piece of documentation to support my theory. Does anyone have any more information on Thomas Hooley who owned the Royal George or Charles Hooley? If anyone can give me any more information, I would appreciate it!
