I am Mary and a total geneaholic! The other day I found out some new information with the help of a genealogywise member on my gr grandmothers family. I was so excited - I could not sleep. I kept thinking about them and mulling them over in my head imagining them and how three sisters left Sweden and the last sister did not. How terrible that must have been for the one left. I kept waking up time and time again that night thinking about the new find.

To Jeanette Moore:
I, too, wish to know what these forerunners were like and what their lives were like. If you are lucky enough to have ancestors who lived where there were city or county directories, you can sometimes trace how a family moved about in following these directories; census reports can show changes in occupations; and local historical societies can help you map a community in their time. But the personal experiences of our ancestors will show up only if someone mentioned them in letters or if they appear in the friendly listings of visits, births, deaths that appeared in local papers.

Hello, my name is Jeanette, and I am definitely a Geneaholic. I started researching my family when my father passed away in 1996. I realized I didn't know very much about my ancestors. I now have a computer full of names, dates, and locations. I spend hours and hours on Ancestry, etc, looking for anyone connected to my family. When I find out who some one married that leads to a whole new family to research, and lot's more names and dates and locations. I think the things I am really looking for I may never find, like what were these people really like and what made their lives worthwhile. What were the important things in their lives? I guess for now the names and dates and locations will have to be enough.

I too seem to spend more time with my ancestors, than my living family:(
I am really happy, because today I found where my Great-Great Grandpa, Jeremiah Blevins is buried! Now I just have to find his wife.
Truly, there is not enough time in the day to work on Family Tree. This is a lifetime hobby, pursuit, whatever you want to call it. Thats why we are "Geneaholics."

Hello, My name is Debbie and I'm Geneaholic. Or at least my family thinks so. It all started with a member of my husband family, asking me to look up some date's for her. And that is all it took. I have went for a desk top to laptop, so I can take my family file's with me. I even went out and bought a digital cameras.

Or maybe technology and new techniques keep growing so fast that no one can truly keep up!

But still, it's worth all the effort.

Hi Guys...I am a geneaholic...big time. I don't have a social life as I'd rather spend my time searching for the 'missing link' in my tree!

So what do you think....does that make us advanced genealogists? I'm still learning a lot of research methods after 10 years of searching......maybe I'm just a slow learner!

This is a wonderful group! I believe I may be a Geneaholic. I started small with looking for the birth and death dates of my husband's grandmother. (It is from little things that great obsessions grow.) I love it when someone hands me a genealogical mystery to solve. I can also bore my cousins to death talking about family history. I guess if you have to be obsessed, this is a great way to do it.

MY NAME IS MS. ROBIN. I AM A HARD CORE GENAHOLIC. TRY AS I MAY I SPEND MORE TIME COLLECTING DEAD REALITIVES THEN TALKING TO LIVE ONES.. IN SOME CASES I LIKE THE DEAD ONES BETTER... I LOVE MOM BUT OH BOY THE OTHERS, LOL. WHEN DID I KNOW I WAS ADDICTED .. WHEN I DECIDED THE SILANCE WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND I GOT MY I WILL SHOW YOU I WILL FIND OUT... SO THERE ATTUDE. PLUS I NEVER KNEW MY MOMS PARENTS THEY DIED WHEN MOM WAS YOUNG SO I HAD TO KNOW AND I COULDNT STOP AT THEY CAME FROM ITALY.................

Hello fellow Geneaholics! I'm Lizzie and I admit that I belong in this group. My family would also say I do. ;) My genealogy 'fever' started with my great-grandmother and grandmother who shared with me their family histories. I am honored to be able to pass down what they shared with me. With the advent of the internet I have been able to expand on our tree. However, I have found that they both had great memories when it comes to names, places, and dates. I treasure all the photographs and family items they passed down to me. Hopefully someday my family will come to appreciate all that I have collected for them. :)
