What specific kinds of documents and / or reference materials do YOU think we should be familiar with for the document recognition portion of the test?

For example:

  • The Phillimore Atlas & Index of Parish Registers (FHL Ref 942 E7pa 1995)
  • Lewis' Topographical Dictionary (FHL Ref 942 E51)
  • Register of English Nonconformist Records (FHL Reg 942 K23re)
  • Civil Registration indexes
  • Imperial Gazetteer (FHL Ref 942 E5i)
  • Parish Registers & Bishop's Transcripts

Please add to this list so we can all be better-prepared!  Thanks!

Probate records (both pre- and post-1858)
Don't forget all the different types of military records!
I think recognizing a page from the post 1858 probate index would be helpful... and also the knowledge of how to find the records because it can get confusing if you're used to using mostly the older records.

Outgoing passenger lists.
Census Registers.
Non-FreeBMD civil registration indexes (there are local indexes which are usually better!)
