My father was raised in Cromwell. His paternal grandmother was Emily Davault Smith, also (apparently) common-law partner of Venal Dupuys (aka John Wells). If anyone knows more of that back story, I would like to have it.
About a year ago I visited the Valley Cemetery near Cromwell and identified a number of Smith and Davault gravestones. -
