Where to Post

I'm trying to organize things a bit so I've made threads in the Discussion Forum for each county. If you know where the people you are researching lived, please post your queries, information, etc. in the appropriate thread/county. If you don't know where in Indiana the people you are researching lived or if they lived in multiple counties, go ahead and post to the Comment Wall below. Also, if you feel your post is urgent or you want it to be viewed by the whole group, post to the Comment Wall. As always, everyone is also still welcome to start their own discussion threads.

Since Genealogy Wise doesn't allow the option of displaying ALL Discussion Forum threads, some won't appear below. If you don't see the county or discussion that you are looking for below, click on "View All" in the bottom right of the Discussion Forum and you should be able to
find it there. Thanks!

Due to spamming fears, I am (for the time being at least) disabling the option of messaging the whole group. If you have a message you would like passed on to the whole group, get in touch with me. If you receive a spam message in your Genealogy Wise inbox along the lines of "Win a Cruise" please get in touch with me right away and I will take care of it. Thanks and sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Linda-Have you checked the Crawfordsville Public Library? They have several on line indexes. I saw there was a obit listed for Louis Hultz June 24, 1974. You will have to request the obit from the library. They are very helpful.
Check out their web site. http://www.cdpl.lib.in.us/lh/
I got the obit index from the Vital Stat. section.

The records were not very extensive. Therr were nurses' notes, but they aren't very much, plus some doctors' orders. There were some references to the fact that my grandmother may have suffered from brain cancer, which was not on her death certificate. There were some references to past behaviors, but not many. But, it was better than nothing

Cindy,
Thank you for your advice. I will definitely try that! What kind of information did you receive from the state archives? Were the records very extensive?

Diana,
I had a similar situation a while back. I wrote to the Indiana State Archives, and was able to get the medical record for a very reasonable price. Here is their website: http://www.statearchives.us/indiana.htm

Hello everyone,
I recently discovered that my great great grandfather died while a patient at Long Cliff in Logansport in 1915. I have a copy of his death record; his cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage. Does anyone know how I might track down when he was admitted into Long Cliff as well as the reason? I appreciate any help or advice you may have to offer. Thank you so much!

Anne,
As I said, send me an email reminder and I can do some digging as time allows. I still live in Indy and will check. Do you happen to know what religion or churches or area they lived in? Maybe we can narrow it down.

(PS - I used to live out past Creve Coeur, north of Olive, west of 270 (before it was built) on Betsy Ross Ln. about a 100yrs ago!)

I really appreciate the help. Sterling Given was my grandfather. Mildred Clark was Mary's sister. Jack Clark was the founder of Roselyn bakeries. Remember them? I was born and raised in Indy. I live in St. Louis now. I have searched for a marriage record for years now. I even went to the Marion County Courthouse and checked there. Unfortunatly, the marriage records for 1923 do not include the maiden names of the bride! So I wrote down every Mary there was and whittled it down by comparing divorce records, census records and so on. Marion Smith was the closest match. I've been to the IN State Library too. I haven't been able to find anything there either. It's very frustrating.

Anne,
This is what I found on a quick search of the online circuit court records for M. Goepper:

Marriage Record Number 49195
Groom STERLING GIVEN
Bride MARY GOEPPER
Marriage Date 04/02/1938
Page Number 440
Ref. Book Number 149

Marriage Record Number 19341
Groom JAMES CLARK
Bride MILDRED GOEPPER
Marriage Date 09/19/1930
Page Number 402
Ref. Book Number 135

Prior to 1925, I'll have to go check the 'old fashioned' way (in person). Please send me an email direct as a reminder. (Marion County, correct?) Include any other details you may have to help the search. Thanks!
