Where to Post

I'm trying to organize things a bit so I've made threads in the Discussion Forum for each county. If you know where the people you are researching lived, please post your queries, information, etc. in the appropriate thread/county. If you don't know where in Indiana the people you are researching lived or if they lived in multiple counties, go ahead and post to the Comment Wall below. Also, if you feel your post is urgent or you want it to be viewed by the whole group, post to the Comment Wall. As always, everyone is also still welcome to start their own discussion threads.

Since Genealogy Wise doesn't allow the option of displaying ALL Discussion Forum threads, some won't appear below. If you don't see the county or discussion that you are looking for below, click on "View All" in the bottom right of the Discussion Forum and you should be able to
find it there. Thanks!

Due to spamming fears, I am (for the time being at least) disabling the option of messaging the whole group. If you have a message you would like passed on to the whole group, get in touch with me. If you receive a spam message in your Genealogy Wise inbox along the lines of "Win a Cruise" please get in touch with me right away and I will take care of it. Thanks and sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

I am looking for information on Eli Overlin who was born in 1789 or so. He is possibly an ancestor of my husband. I don't know much about him.I would like to find the name of his wife and if he is the father of Ancil Overlin.

Hi all! I am a "Geneablogger" and I have started writing about different people's ancestors for Treasure Chest Thursday. First week I wrote about my ancestor Jesse Vawter, from Madison, Indiana. Today I featured Abraham Wrightsman, an Underground Railroad conductor from near Kokomo. I am looking for more ancestors to spotlight (especially Hoosiers, from my home state). You can check out my blog at www.goinoverhome.blogspot.com or email me directly about your ancestor: KathrynAndrewsPotter@gmail.com

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Gayle Nyberg,

Send me the info (via email) you are seeking for Cornwall Brown.  I'll be going to the Marion County (Indpls, IN) clerk's office in the next week or two.  I'll see if I can find your answers.

Sally,

I'm not a member of the Dreiser family, but I do make periodic trips to Kosciusko County (Silver Lake & Warsaw).  Contact me directly and let me know what info to research on my next trip.

i'm researching the Dreiser family (as in Theodore and his brother, Paul Dresser) and collateral lines in Indiana.  They lived in Terre Haute, Evansville, Sullivan, Silver Lake, and Warsaw - all in the mid to late 1800s. Some of the collateral lines are Schnapp(Snepp, etc) and Straub(also many alternative spellings.  Any and all help would be greatly appreciated and i'm certainly willing to share what i have.

Hi.  I am hoping someone can help me to find an obituary/buriel for David Hill who died/buried 31 August 1882 in Greene County, Indiana.  His wife was Cynthia Worthington Hill who died between 1880 and 1900.  Thank you.

Looking for information on the following people: Walter Baker, born in Miami County IN (maybe Gilead) around 1882. His parents were John Baker (b 1857) and Sarah Barnhisel-Baker. John Baker parents were Timothy Baker and Susan Messinger-Baker. Timothy and Susan are buried in the Old Gilead Cemetery as well as Henry & Laura Baker. Timoothy's father was also named John Baker & he is also buried in the old Gilead Cemetery. He died April 23rd, 1867. I would love to find out any information on this set of Baker's. Thanks,
