There is also an Iowa Genealogy Group on Yahoo Groups, it would be nice to connect with them to expand both groups.
Personally much of last 35 years of my research has been centered in the South-Eastern region of Iowa, they use to say "ya can spit in any direction for at least 35 miles around Ottumawa and not hit a relative", now with the 3 generations I knew being mostly gone and family history not being as important as it once way I have heard the saying - I sorta miss that. ANY ONE researching Spilman, Shepherd. Dotson/Dodson or Golden in South East Iowa (Wappelo, Van Buren, Davis, Monre counties) please let me know.

Carroll County Iowa is my main focus (Sigler, Hupp, Conner, Hoskinson, Knight) but they did move around Guthrie and Greene County too. They started off in Lee County in abt 1855 moved to Carroll Co in abt 1863 or so.

Shirley - about your problem of Patrick Dunn's burial place. Weldon straddles the line between Clarke and Decatur counties, the Clarke county portion being in Green Bay township. I took a quick look at the 1900 census online and Patrick was living with his son in Clarke County in Green Bay township. I could see that even if he died in Weldon (although that might simply be the nearest post office). it would be a simple matter for his body to be returned to the cemetery in Green Bay for burial. It's only a few miles.

My Iowa roots come from my maternal grandmother: Edna Elizabeth Rampton VAN WIG. Her family includes: RAMPTON, SWITZER, PAGE, ELLIOTT

Most of the family was from Dysart, and the Tama County area

I'm looking for any info on the Hucle surname. I know there are Hucle in Iowa, but don't know if they are the same family.
John or Brady Hucle was born in Viginia, may have family in kentucky and died in Iowa about 1874-1875. My gr-grandfather, John's son, was born in Iowa.

I'm looking for any information on the Wimpsetts, Rahs, Axmears and Bales.
I would appreciate any information you have.
The Rahs and Axmears were from the Keokuk County area and the Wimpsetts and Bales were from the Henry County area.

My great grandfather and great great grandfathers, Jones, joined the civil war in Iowa in 1860 or 61. They had both come from England just a few years prior. After the war, they each thought the other was not alive, and they never met again. Each raised families, one in Iowa and the other in WI.
