I am looking for Peter Clarks family that came from Ireland ( yes we are not sure the location sadly ) but he was catholic and came to Cincinnati . He was processed in New york In the 1870's ( not statten Island but a gardens ...He was buried in possibly Peter in chains cemetery.. ( may have the biblical saint wrong. ) But am looking for them pre Ohio In Ireland.

How the Celtic myth is identical to ancient Indian myth...I just completed a book on Ireland where I made comparison...the mythical character like Irish hero Cuchulain and Indian hero Karna is identical...is there link between India and Ireland enetically too?

Wanted to respon to Debbie Anne's July query about using the irish-roots.ie/ pay per view site. I have used the site successfully. It works best when someone already has a little information to work with. I have found that if I have specific names, estimated dates, and some knowledge of location, a search will often pull up multiple records. That's the point at which the user needs to make some decisions. To view a record to see if it's the one for which you're searching costs six Euros. I've learned that even in a small townland there are most often numerous people who share names and dates. In the beginning I felt as if I were in Las Vegas, using one of the old one-armed bandits. Those Euro credits can evaporate quickly. My advice - use when you've already done some research and use with restraint.

Hi we have on our database a number of Irish LAW, LAWEs,LAWS families
though my mother's MOONEY line is supposed to come from Avoca we were there last year Wow! who could leave it!

I am looking for information about William M. Callahan, born August 1840 in Limerick County, Ireland. Immigrated to the USA sometime before 1861, date unkown. He joined the union army June 30, 1861, at Birds Point, Mo. Discharged April 6, 1863, at St Louis, Mo. after being wounded in the battle for Ft Donelson. He re-enlisted shortly after that because he could not find work. Did he have brothers or sisters who emigrated with him?

looking for descendants of Patrick Foley and Elizabeth Carroll who baptised several children in Avoca, Wicklow, beofre emigrating to Cumberland, England around 1875. one daughter Margaret married John Keough - where did he originate?

I am looking at/for Hannan information. My ancestor was Patrick Hannan. He may have been Patrick J. Hanan and I'm not at all sure about his wife's name. She was a daughter or sister of Daniel Sheehan. I have found a Julia A. Sheehan - could that be his wife?? They come from the Tipperary area, we think. Their descendants over there live in the Balleybunnion and Listowel areas. They had two known children: Thomas & Matthias. Thanks for help. I do want to join the Irish Group. I have a hard one - the surname is OVERN. I know it's Nordic in origin, but my family came from Cloughenramer, Newry, County Down. My 3rd g-grandfather was John OVERN, born in about 1778. He had several children - names we know of were James, John, George, William, Francis.

My g-g-grandfather was James Overn, born 1799 in Cloughenramer. He married #1 - Mary COLVIN, born 1800, in 1819 or 1820. Mary died soon after the birth of their first child, John, in 1821. James then married Ann GRANGER, born 1800, Cloughenramer; in 1822.

The family migrated into Enniskillen, Fermanagh in about 1831, and my g-grandmother Catherine Ann Overn was born there on 23 August 1833. In 1835, the family immigrated from Enniskillen to Boston.

James owned a grocery store in Charlestown, MA from about 1840 to around 1860. He then sold it and the family migrated to Erin, Rice County, MN.

Some family names associated with Overn in Boston include Madden, Sullivan, Donallen, Murphy, among others. Here's hoping there is another OVERN descendant out there!
