Hi, I think I'm on the right group this time :-)
My paternal grandmother was Irish. Annie Smith born 1878, Crossabeg, Co. Wexford. Her parentswere William Atkin Smith and Hannagh Walker who were married at St Kevin's Church of Ireland in the Parish of St Peter in Dublin, 11 January 1866. Sometime before 1892 the family moved to Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow. Whilst working in Enniskillen Annie joined a group of Protestant brethren and subsequently became a missionary for the group. She visited Australia to "spread the word", returned to Ireland and then came back and married my grandfather in Victoria, they "spread the word" for a few years and produced my father, Charles Wilfred Heyes and his brother, Geoffrey James Heyes and eventually settled in Tasmania where my grandmother died in 1933. Annie's sister, Hannah Harriet and b-in-l, James Manning emigrated to Tasmania via NZ. Annie's sister, Bessie and b-in-l, James Bodey emigrated to South Australia. The other siblings, William Thomas, Susan and Georgina stayed in Ireland and there are no longer any living descendants. There are still descendants of Bessie, Annie and Hannah Harriet alive in Australia. I have found researching my grandmother's family almost impossible from Australia. On a visit to Ireland I visited churches, I saw some graves and I had a coffee in the great grandparents' store which is now a coffee shop. Prior to my visit a kind Irish person living in Rathdrum sent me a copy of my great grandparent's marriage certicate and a pic of my great grandparents' store in Rathdrum. When I applied for death certificates of my great grandparents years ago to the official source, I was sent the certificates of two people who obviously weren't my grandparents and weren't even married to each other which was grand fuel for all the Irish jokes that are told. Health problems, time and distance prevent my researching at Family History Centres, Libraries etc so I am limited to the internet. I will be grateful for any ideas forthcoming about how I might pursue my quest for more info on my Irish family. Best wishes to all.

My Sampey family came from the area around Ballinlough, Roscommon County. The family plot is at the Church of Ireland in Ballinlough. Griffith Sampey came to the United States with his family about 1855 and settled in Iowa. The family later moved to Washington State, via Oklahoma.

Married Owen DYER b abt 1816 Ireland... they both immigrated to Canada where son Patrick Joseph DYER was born in Ontario..also looking for Bridget's FLYNN's maiden name

I have several family lines that are from Ireland and I have not been able to get information on anything more specific than they were Irish. Our latest immigrant was Thomas Mooney, born about 1821 in Ireland. We think he may have married and had one or two children before arriving in the States. Family legend says that he arrived in Canada and then walked across the border. We first find records of him in Ohio where he was a coal miner where he married 17-year-old Nancy McCall. He died in 1875 in Missouri, and as far as we have been able to discover, he never applied to be a US citizen, so there would be no naturalization papers to help in the search.

The next immigrant, John Mullen, born abt 1794 in Ireland. He came with his family, probably leaving them in Nova Scotia while he came to the States before sending for them. I found the record of his wife Margaret and sons James, William, and Moses, arriving in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1839. So far, I haven't found a record of his arrival. I have not been able to locate his naturalization papers, which he claims to have filed in Vanderburgh County, Indiana, several years before 1856 when he became a citizen.

There is a third line, the McClatcheys, that originated in Scotland and moved to Ulster. James, our immigrant, was born there about 1730. I'm not sure exactly when he arrived in the Colonies, but he was here by the early 1760s.

We have several other lines: Callahan, McCall, Neely, etc., that have been in America for so many generations, that we don't yet know when they arrived from Ireland.

I am researching Hanlon/England connections in and around Roscrea, Ireland. My great-grandfather, Marcus Hanlon came to the US from Ireland in 1864. His parents were John Norman Hanlon and Mary Ann England, and they were married May 4, 1840 in St. Cronan's C of I in Roscrea (identified on his wedding certificate). I have tons of records including John and Mary Ann's death certificates and church records from St. Cronan's. I have Marcus' will dated 1908, in which he names all his surviving brothers and sisters in Ireland and they match those on the baptismal records from St. Cronan's. I have found several on the 1901 & 1911 Irish censuses. What has eluded me however, is finding Marcus/ baptismal record. It is not at St. Cronan's although his brothers' and sisters' are. I do know for sure that his parents were John and Mary Ann as the combination of names was so unusual - especially the use of the middle name during that period. Mary Ann was from Kyle, just over the border of Tipperary into Laois (Queens at the time) and which is only a mile or less from Roscrea. The 1901 census identifies her as a Methodist and someone told me years ago that the first born might have been baptised in the mother's faith. Marcus was born in March, 1841 according to his own words on his bank account application at the Emigrant Savings' Bank in NYC.

Any ideas or suggestions?

I am researching several family names of ancestors from Ireland. My g-g-grandfather, Thomas Ernest Nevin was born there in about 1837. When he came to America he settled near Baltimore, Maryland (Cockeysville). He married Ida Mathilda Ennis. My other g-g-grandfather from Ireland was Patrick Flynn who was born there in 1834. He married Bridget McNichols who was also born in Ireland in 1839. They also came to live in Cockeysville, MD.
If anyone has any information on these Irish Catholic families ,
I would appreciate any information that you have.

Researching Meagher and James Barton came across James daughter Catherine Meagher nee Barton death cert. on it it states that she was born in Carsevene Ireland .If anyone could please tell me if this is the correct spelling for this location
Or where in Ireland this is .Thank You
