HIGGINS from around the Boyle area Co Roscommon, Ireland; possibly Co Sligo
McDERMOTTROE from Boyle area Co Roscommon
DeCOURCY thought to be from Northern Ireland, County Unknown
MARSHALL from Killinchy area of Co Down, Northern Ireland.

HIGGINS from Ireland, 1863 > New York City and almost immediately to Illinois
MARSHALL from Killinchy area, Co Down late 1840s > Monroe Co, New York > central Illinois; some may have stayed in the Monroe Co, New York area.

Would like to hear from anyone researching the surnames:
WOODBURN
DOBSON
Records say they came from Ireland but I can't get them there yet. Back to 1790 with John Woodburn and James Woodburn, who are brothers.

Ellen, the 1880 US census (free at ancestry.com) shows Philipp [sic] Kernan, age 41, b Ireland, rr conductor, wife Anna age 29 b Bavaria, children: Rosa 9, William 7, Mary 5, Joseph 3, Anna 9 months. They are living at 88 Bridge St. in Cleveland. Given the age of their first child, you might be able to find the couple on the 1870 census, too.

If anyone knows anything about Philip Kernan who was born about 1839 in Ireland and died in Cleveland, Ohio in 1888. All my knowledge is those two dates and that he was a railroad conductor. Any assistance in tracking him down would be appreciated.

I am specifically interested in the Elizabeth D. Hyde, born on 21 June 1866 in Traleee, parents: Elizabeth Sullivan and Daniel Hyde. She came to the US about 1882 and worked in a catholic rectory in Belloows Falls, VT. Married in 1888 to Milton F. Cook, lived in North Walpole, NH and then Claremont, NH until her death on 24 Sep 1926. (She is my great grandmother.) Also interested in William D'Arcy, born in 1865 in Ireland, came to Trenton, NJ and married Elizabeth M. Kakham in abt. 1893. (He is my wife's great grand father.)

David, WOW! That is great that you have been able to go back to Ireland. All I know about Thomas Kennedy is that he came from Ireland. I have no records of when he arrived. I have a good idea that he came in from Charleston, SC. He settled in the Darlington District. Not all the shipping records are all online now.
