My Barbieri family is from Cerreto Sannita, Italy and its neighboring towns such as Pietraroja. I have traced my family to the mid 1500s. To date I have secured almost every single Barbieri record from Cerreto Sannita and other towns, such as Civil and Church Birth, Marriage, Death Records, Notary Records, the 1743 Catasto Onciario, and US Records (immigration, census, vital records, etc). My database consists of about 2500+ individuals including spouses, known children etc.
The surname BARBIERI was Americianized as Barbieri, Barberi, Barberie, Barbeire and Barber.
Some of the surnames of people who married a Barbieri in 1500s-1800s were: Bellucci, Barile, Ungino, Litrenta, Petronzi, Fapprano/Fappiano, Cofrancesco, Cappella, Di Meola, Ciaburri/Ciaburro, Amodio, Milotta, Giamei, Mastroianni, Civile, and Fazzini.
Some of the surnames of people who married a Barbieri (and Americanized variations) in the 1900s were: Fitzmaurice, Steinway, Fitzgerald, Charles, Simonelli, Zanatta, Dunham, Leger, McClosky, Ambro, Auletto, Kozlowski, Sjogren, Engel, Scarpinito, Grella, Fontana, Weyl, Ford, Weber, Boyd, Esp, Cox, Furrier, Wick, Cogliano.
Most of my Barbieri family immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Waterbury, CT, New Haven, CT, Brooklyn, NY, Queens, NY, Bronx, NY and Manhattan, NY. Since the later 1900s, their descendants mostly live in the northeast, but many live in other cities across the U.S. I found and visited two Barbieri cousins in Italy.
I am interested in meeting close and distant cousins and sharing information. All inquiries are welcomed. My direct email is michaelbarberi@yahoo.com.
Regards,
Mike Barberi
