Jensen

Hello, I am pretty new to GenealogyWise and found your group. My grandmother was a Jensen. She was from Hartford, Ct. Her parents came through Ellis Island from Denmark. I have some family info on her but I don't know much about her father. His name was Soren Jensen and his father was Jens Jensen - which was most likely a nickname. Soren married Thyra Foster and they had 8 children. My Grandmother was Ruth.

My grandfather was a John Jensen born in Ohio, his father was a Johannes Jensen born in Denmark. :)
Do you have census records? When did Soren arrive in the US?

I don't have any census records yet and I do have some info on when they came to the US. I will look them up and let you know.

I found Soren on the WW1 draft registrations, his birth date is given as March 20, 1884. He owned a Grocery Store in Hartford, CT. Also found him on the WW2 registrations, appears he was from Mulstrup, Denmark. In the 40s he owned a floor covering business.

Soren died in 1966(if I have the right Soren), so you could apply for his Social Security application, which may have more info on his parents?

Hi Kate,
Is there a site you find info on draft registration? This is my Great Grandfather as he did die in 1966 and flooring was his business. Thanks for the birthdate...I didn't have that. I will check on his SS app...I want to get several of them and I think they are about $20 or more.
